The magic of Venice and its islands

A B&B for Venice, the islands and beaches

Venice and its enchanting lagoon is a landscape unique of its kind anywhere in the world. It is home to historical waterfront buildings, delightful islands, beautiful beaches, areas of land that are partly above water and tidal flows.

With its fabulous waterfront palaces and astonishing architecture, Venice is a favourite destination everybody dreams of visiting. But it is also possible to discover other places full of charm and nature by setting out from B&B Santa Teresa. Fortunately places such as Burano, the most picturesque of Venice’s islands, Murano with its artistic glassworks and Torcello, even older than Venice itself, have not been swamped by mass tourism.

Santa Teresa is a B&B in Mestre, Venice, with excellent public transport links. In just a few minutes you can be in the historical centre of Venice, and at the boat docks for the lagoon’s vaporetti boat services, not to mention the Alilaguna service to Murano, Burano and Torcello. Trains to and from Venice from the Venezia Mestre Ospedale station are fast and frequent.

Those wanting to visit the lagoon’s islands will find Santa Teresa offers B&B accommodation that is superior to options available in Venice. In fact it is not possible to use bicycles in the historical centre, and only a few of the islands such as Lido, Pellestrina and Sant’Erasmo can be covered by bike. We recommend staying in accommodation near the railway station so you can be free to discover Venice on foot, and put your bikes on trains and boats to reach the cycle-friendly islands.
Santa Teresa is also affiliated with the Albergabici service. It offers safe storage, equipment and assistance to cyclists, along with a range of services not normally available in ordinary budget B&Bs in Venice.

Not many people know that besides being an astonishing city of art, Venice also has wonderful beaches. Venice’s beach is at Lido, a magical place where the beach blends with the atmosphere of hotels reminiscent of the belle époque, where each year film stars meet for the International Film Festival. The other Venetian beach is Jesolo, one of Italy’s largest summer resorts. Just a short distance away are the beautiful beaches of Chioggia, Sottomarina, Caorle, Bibione and Lignano.

It is easy to reach the beaches from our B&B in Mestre, Venice. To reach Lido just take the direct vaporetto boat line. The stop is in front of the Venezia Santa Lucia railway station. To reach Jesolo there is the Alilaguna boat which departs from the cruise terminal, near Piazzale Roma. In order to reach the motor boat dock from our B&B in Mestre, Venice, just take the train, get off at the station after Venezia Santa Lucia and cross the new bridge built by Spanish architect Calatrava.

All the other beaches of the Alto Adriatico can also be reached on public transport, combining train and boat or bus.
